A Poppy Flower was ceremonially pinned on Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) by President of the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen's Association (SLESA), Major General LM Mudalige (Retd) today (Sep 19) to mark Poppy Day.

The Poppy Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth countries since the end of World War I to commemorate the fallen armed forces personnel whilst on duty.

A SLESA delegation, led by Maj Gen Mudalige, visited the Deputy Minister's office in Colombo this morning and pinned him with a poppy flower.

The Deputy Minister also engaged in a cordial discussion with the delegation during the meeting.
