Hoxworth blood donors can score a Cincinnati Cyclones light-up sweater hat, receive a bonus WKRP Turkey Drop apron, honor veterans and save on Thanksgiving Day Race registration while helping local patients.
As the holiday season approaches, Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, encourages the community to give the gift of life. With special donor thank-you gifts, a Veterans Day tribute and a discount for the iconic Thanksgiving Day Race, there are plenty of reasons to make blood donation part of the season of giving.
Throughout November, blood donors at Neighborhood Donor Centers and select mobile drives will receive an exclusive light-up Cincinnati Cyclones sweater hat while supplies last, perfect for staying warm and showing team spirit all winter long.
Hoxworth has a BONUS gift!
Blood donors will also receive a WKRP Turkey Drop apron at Neighborhood Donor Centers only, just in time for holiday baking and Thanksgiving preparations. The special gifts are Hoxworth's way of thanking the generous donors who help ensure local patients have the lifesaving blood they need.
"Blood donation is one of the most meaningful ways to give back to our community, especially during the holiday season," said David Oh, MD, Hoxworth Blood Center director. "While many of us are celebrating with family and friends, local patients are counting on blood donors every day. We are grateful to everyone who takes the time to donate and help save lives close to home."
Honoring our veterans
In recognition of Veterans Day, Hoxworth will offer special themed T-shirts to donors on Nov. 10 and 11 at its Neighborhood Donor Centers, while supplies last.
The special Veterans Day shirts honor and recognize the men and women who have served our country while celebrating the generosity of those who continue to serve their community through blood donation.
Give blood, then trot away on Thanksgiving
Hoxworth is also partnering with the Thanksgiving Day Race to encourage blood donation ahead of the holiday.
Anyone who donates blood between Nov. 1 and Nov. 23 will receive a 25% discount code for Thanksgiving Day Race registration. After donating, donors will receive an email with the code, which they can use to register for any distance in the iconic Cincinnati race.

A season of giving that saves lives
Hoxworth Blood Center is the sole blood provider for more than 30 hospitals in 18 counties across Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana. Blood donations are essential to maintaining a reliable supply for local patients who need blood transfusions during emergencies, surgeries, cancer treatments and other medical procedures.
The need for blood does not take a holiday. Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment and help ensure blood is available on hospital shelves when patients need it most.
