Shriners Hospitals for Children Canada is pleased to welcome Marie-Eve Robinson, M.D., C.M., MSc., FRCPC, a pediatric endocrinologist and clinician-scientist whose expertise will help expand care for children living with rare and complex bone conditions.
Dr. Robinson joins the hospital as its first staff endocrinologist specializing in metabolic and genetic bone diseases. Her arrival strengthens the hospital's interdisciplinary approach to care by adding expertise in growth, hormone health and emerging medical therapies for skeletal disorders.
A Career Shaped at Shriners Hospitals for Children Canada
Dr. Robinson first came to Shriners Hospitals for Children Canada during her fellowship training in pediatric bone disorders in 2018 and 2019. There, she trained under internationally recognized clinician-scientists Francis Glorieux, M.D., Ph.D., and Frank Rauch, M.D., - mentors who would profoundly shape her career and ignite her passion for rare bone disease.
"That's where I really became involved in the field and fell in love with this patient population," Dr. Robinson said. "I knew I wanted to be highly specialized, and I always hoped I would come back."
Following her fellowship, Dr. Robinson spent six years at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, where she developed an interdisciplinary program for children with skeletal dysplasia and built a strong clinical research program focused on genetic bone disorders.
"I knew my heart was always at Shriners," she said. "This is the place to be - not just in Canada, but in the world - for rare bone disease care and research."
Strengthening Care Through Research and Innovation
Dr. Robinson brings a unique combination of clinical leadership and research experience. She holds a master's degree in epidemiology and biostatistics from McGill University, and her work focuses on improving outcomes across the full patient experience, including physical, emotional and functional well-being.
She is leading clinical trials in conditions such as achondroplasia, hypochondroplasia, osteogenesis imperfecta and X-linked hypophosphatemia, increasing access to new treatments.
"To truly be a center of excellence, we need to deliver the best care while also leading research and clinical trials," Dr. Robinson said. "Many new therapies are emerging, and we need to make them available to our patients."
