Date: July 10, 2025

Author: ASRM

Meet Anna Hovey, an Advocacy Engagement Specialist at ASRM. Anna uses her journalism background and love of writing to fight for reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ equality, and healthcare access. Anna believes everyone deserves the right to make informed decisions about their health, and she's passionate about turning that belief into action through community engagement and writing. She loves cats, travelling, reading, and eating an excess of salty snacks.

Anna has been with ASRM since January 2024 and when it comes to her passion, she's all about advocacy. She says she loves helping to mobilize ASRM's incredible member advocates to protect reproductive medicine and reproductive rights at the state and federal levels.

"We're seeing more and more attacks on IVF, abortion, and trans rights all the time, and working at ASRM gives me the opportunity to take action while helping our passionate members do the same."

While ASRM doesn't have regulatory power, the public affairs and advocacy team works to make comprehensive ethical and practical recommendations for clinics and individuals who work in family building.

When it comes to career advice, Anna says it's so important to dedicate your skills to something you're passionate about.

"Financial stability is important, but following your heart is more important than following huge sums of money. "

Anna says she is inspired by her 97-year-old grandmother, who was also a writer.

"She followed her passion for writing, a career path dominated by men at the time, and got her master's degree, a very uncommon endeavor for women in the 1950s. She even travelled the world in her 70s!"

As for ASRM 2025, Anna says she is most excited about interacting with members and leaders in the field of reproductive medicine, who want to get involved in advocacy.
