Urgent measures to support Campania’s farms

Urgent measures to support Campania's farms

13.10.2025

Priority question for written answer P-004014/2025
to the Commission
Rule 144
Aldo Patriciello (PfE)

Agriculture is a strategically important sector for the regional economy of Campania, particularly in inland areas.

The Campania Rural Development Programme (RDP) 2014-2020, financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), has made investments of around EUR 3 billion available as an essential tool for supporting farm businesses.

However, at the closure of the programme, many companies face serious difficulties with completing investments and meeting the deadlines for reporting and spending resources.

Those procedures could complicate investments and the smooth disbursement of advances, compounding a state of affairs that is already precarious owing to firms' financial difficulties and the slowdown of the credit system.

In the light of the above:

  • 1.Does the Commission plan to take extraordinary measures to push the Campania region to revoke or amend the sanctions that are holding farm businesses back from completing the investments financed by the 2014-2020 RDP?
  • 2.To enable firms to complete work and bureaucratic procedures without losing resources, will the Commission push for an extension of the deadlines for reporting and spending resources until 31 December 2025?
