The Santa Ana City Council approved key actions to move forward with the rehabilitation of Fairview Street, from the City's southern limits at Sunflower Avenue to Alton Avenue on March 3, 2026.
The Fairview Street Rehabilitation Project is part of the City's Capital Improvement Program and will:
Once completed, the project will improve driving conditions, enhance the look of the street, and make sidewalks safer and more accessible under Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
Construction is expected to be completed in August 2026.
Because the City of Costa Mesa shares the right-of-way within the project area, the City Council also approved a Cooperative Cost Reimbursement Agreement that requires Costa Mesa to pay $96,000 for the portion of improvements taking place within its city limits.
The City Council also awarded a construction contract to Onyx Paving Company, Inc., the lowest responsive bidder, in the amount of $2,728,000.
Onyx Paving Company, Inc. has successfully completed several recent projects in Santa Ana, including local street preventative maintenance projects and Safe Routes to School improvements at Fremont Elementary and Spurgeon Intermediate.
The total cost of the project, including construction, is $3.4 million.
This investment reflects the City's continued commitment to maintaining safe streets, improving infrastructure, and enhancing quality of life for residents and businesses in Santa Ana.
