City invites public to Building Code Adoption forum, Dec. 17
(COLUMBIA, MO)- On Wednesday, Dec. 17, the City of Columbia Community Development department, in coordination with the Building and Construction Codes Commission, will host a public forum on the City's adoption of the 2024 International Building Codes.
The forum will begin at 4 p.m. in the City Council Chambers of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway. Attendees will be able to inquire about and discuss the proposed changes currently on file with the City Clerk's Office. The Building Code Adoption is in a 90-day public comment and review period, which ends Feb. 17, 2026.
Community Development has posted the proposed amendments, a summary of significant changes for each code book and a public, read-only link to the 2024 International Codes on its website. Community members may submit questions or comments through its BeHeard page. All comments will be reviewed by staff and included in a report to City Council.
The forum is open to anyone interested in learning more about the proposed updates and how the codes support safe, resilient building practices.
