Magaziner Announces Funding for South Kingstown Housing Authority to Build a New Community Center

WARWICK, R.I. - Today, U.S. Representative Seth Magaziner (RI-02) joined local leaders to announce $850,000 of federal funding he secured in government funding legislation for the South Kingstown Housing Authority to build a new community center at the Champagne Heights housing development.

The new facility will serve residents of the development's senior and low-income housing. In addition to providing a gathering space, the community center will allow the Housing Authority to offer on-site casework and support services to residents at Champagne Heights.

"I am committed to making sure South Kingstown gets the resources necessary to expand affordable housing and connect residents with the casework services they rely on," said Magaziner. "This new community space will provide vital services and support for residents at the Champagne Heights housing development."

"We are deeply grateful to Congressman Magaziner for his leadership in securing funding for this vital component of the South Kingstown Housing Authority's planned revitalization of Champagne Heights. This new Community Center will provide an important space where residents can connect with one another, access services offered by community organizations, and participate in programs that strengthen our community," said South Kingstown Housing Authority Board Chair, Christopher H. Little.

"The Town of South Kingstown is excited to announce the funding for the construction of a new community center at the Champagne Heights Housing Development. We would like to thank our partners at the South Kingstown Housing Authority, and especially Congressman Seth Magaziner, for securing the funding to make this important project possible. This new community center will make such a positive impact on residents and will be a gathering space that residents can enjoy for generations to come," said South Kingstown Town Manager James Manni.

The funding will support the South Kingstown Housing Authority's plans to revitalize the Champagne Heights low-income housing development.

Magaziner worked closely with the South Kingstown Housing Authority and local leaders to secure the funding as part of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development appropriations bill, which passed the House of Representatives on February 3, 2026, and was later signed into law.
