WASHINGTON, DC - Congresswoman Nellie Pou (D-NJ-09) today used a House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee hearing to grill officials at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for answers on the continuing chaos and failures at Newark Liberty International Airport.
"The repeated failures are completely unacceptable. They have led to thousands of delayed and canceled flights. They have shaken the confidence of the public and badly damaged the reputation of the airport," said Congresswoman Pou before noting the absence at the hearing of the current FAA Acting Administrator, who took office after the prior head was forced out by Donald Trump.
As Vice Ranking Member of Congress's Aviation Subcommittee, Congresswoman Pou has been aggressive in seeking action to turn Newark Airport around. Yesterday, she joined members of the New Jersey congressional delegation in calling foran immediate surge of at least $2 billion to address the ongoing situation at Newark Airport.
Last week, Congresswoman Pou led a letter with House Transportation Committee leaders demanding answers from Acting Administrator Chris Rocheleau no later than May 20.
