Texas-New Mexico Power (TNMP) today was announced as an Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Emergency Response Award recipient. Presented to EEI member companies twice a year, the Emergency Response Awards recognize recovery and assistance efforts of electric companies following service disruptions caused by extreme weather or other natural events. The winners were chosen by a panel of judges following an international nomination process. The awards were presented during EEI's winter Board of Directors and CEO meeting.
"Throughout 2024, America's electric companies and their dedicated workforce answered the call to help restore power and hope to communities impacted by extreme weather events and natural disasters," said EEI interim President and CEO Pat Vincent-Collawn. "This commitment to mutual assistance is vital to our efforts to serve customers safely and reliably, and I applaud TNMP for aiding neighboring electric companies in their times of need. TNMP and its storm response team are extremely deserving of this well-earned assistance award."
On September 25, nearly 40 TNMP linemen traveled to Georgia to assist in restoring power after Hurricane Helene. Their courage and dedication helped bring electricity back to thousands of homes, showcasing the true spirit of mutual aid.
In the midst of their hard work, a young boy named Hunter from Augusta, Georgia, touched their hearts with thoughtful handmade cards. His kindness inspired our linemen to give back, surprising him with a signed hard hat, a PS5, and gift cards. Acts of kindness like Hunter's remind us of the strong connections forged during times of crisis.
"TNMP is honored to have won the EEI Emergency Assistance Award for our efforts in Georgia-a testament to our team's resilience and commitment," said Neal Walker, President of TNMP.
