TIF Funding Proposed for Turf Field at Madigan Park

The Chicago Park District would install an artificial turf field at Madigan Park in West Lawn through a $1.6 million Tax Increment Financing (TIF) grant introduced to City Council today by Mayor Brandon Johnson.

The project at 4701 W. Marquette Road, next to Mariano Azuela Elementary School, would replace an area occupied by grass and gravel. Funding would be provided from the 67th/Cicero TIF district. The total project cost is $2.8 million.

The City's TIF program uses new property tax growth within designated districts to support public and private investments within their boundaries.
