Italy and Germany sign Joint Declaration to strengthen humanitarian commitment in Gaza

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, and the German Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs, Johann Wadephul, held a bilateral meeting at the Farnesina on the margins of the Conference of Ambassadors and Heads of Mission, at the conclusion of which they issued a Joint Declaration to reinvigorate humanitarian engagement in Gaza.

The Declaration highlights the urgency of ensuring humanitarian access ahead of the winter months and reaffirms the support of Rome and Berlin for President Trump's peace plan, as endorsed by the United Nations Security Council, which provides for the unhindered resumption of humanitarian assistance.

The text underscores the essential role of the United Nations and NGOs in delivering an effective humanitarian response and announces the establishment of a joint platform to coordinate efforts by the private sector and civil society, including through the UN Base in Brindisi, a strategic hub for the rapid delivery of essential aid.
