Working Visit of Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan to Panama, Guyana and Suriname, 17 to 21 May 2026

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will make working visits to the Republic of Panama from 17 to 18 May 2026, the Co-operative Republic of Guyana on 19 May 2026, and the Republic of Suriname from 19 to 21 May 2026. This marks Minister Balakrishnan's first visits to the three countries.

In Panama, Minister Balakrishnan will meet President José Raúl Mulino Quintero, Minister of Foreign Affairs Javier Eduardo Martínez-Acha Vásquez, Minister of Commerce and Industries Julio Moltó, and Minister of Economy and Finance Felipe Chapman. Minister Balakrishnan will also meet his counterparts in Guyana and Suriname.

While in Suriname, Minister Balakrishnan will attend the 29^th Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) Meeting as a Special Guest. Minister Balakrishnan will also have bilateral meetings with the Foreign Ministers of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) on the sidelines of the 29^th COFCOR Meeting.

Minister Balakrishnan will discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, and supply chain resilience, and opportunities to deepen economic integration between our two regions.

Minister Balakrishnan will be accompanied by Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Ministry of Social and Family Development Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
