Harrisburg, PA - Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity and Senator Judy Ward (R-30) announced today that nearly $130,000 in unclaimed property has been returned to residents of the 30th senate district.
"It's fantastic to see such a huge sum of unclaimed property being returned to the hardworking people of the 30th district! Whether it's a few hundred dollars or much more, this money belongs to Pennsylvanians - not the state - and I'm thankful to Senator Ward for partnering with Treasury to help get these funds back into the hands of their rightful owners."
A total of $129,652 in unclaimed property was returned to individuals, business and other organizations.
"I was grateful to work with the Pennsylvania Treasury and Treasurer Stacy Garrity in returning nearly $130,000 to the constituents of the 30th district. Unclaimed property is your money and by hosting these events we are able to assist you in returning that money directly to you. If you were unable to make the event, my offices can still help in receiving your unclaimed property."
Since 2021, Treasurer Garrity has returned more than $1 billion in unclaimed property, including a record of over $334 million last year
Treasury is working to return more than $5 billion in unclaimed property to its rightful owners, including more than $41 million available to residents of Senator Ward's district, which includes Blair, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata, and Mifflin counties.
More than one in ten Pennsylvanians has unclaimed property, and the average claim is worth over $1,000.
Unclaimed property can include things like dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks and forgotten stocks, and tangible items, such as collectible coins, jewelry and savings bonds, that most often comes to Treasury as the contents of safe deposit boxes.
