Public Safety Outage Management Watch Remains in Effect for Multiple Locations Across Northern Nevada

Customers urged to prepare ahead of high winds and dangerous wildfire conditions

RENO, Nev. - NV Energy's Public Safety Outage Management (PSOM) WATCH remains in effect for customers in the following northern Nevada zones:

• Incline - Mt. Rose - 1 customer
• Incline - East - approximately 493 customers
• Glenbrook - North - approximately 94 customers
• Glenbrook - East Spooner - approximately 76 customers
• Glenbrook - South - approximately 979 customers
• South Carson City - Clear Creek - approximately 9 customers
• South Carson City - Jacks Valley - approximately 53 customers
• Genoa South - approximately 591 customers
• Stateline - Upper Kingsbury - approximately 1,493 customers
• Heavenly - approximately 3 customers
• Virginia City Highlands - approximately 677 customers
• Lakeview Carson - approximately 569 customers
• Winnemucca - approximately 5,807 customers

The National Weather Service in Reno, Elko, and Las Vegas have issued Fire Weather Watches covering the majority of Nevada for Saturday, September 12, meaning critical fire weather conditions are possible, including strong winds, low humidity and dry vegetation that could allow fires to start easily and spread rapidly.

If NV Energy determines that a PSOM is necessary, de-energization would begin at approximately 11 a.m. Saturday, September 12, and could last until approximately 11 a.m. Sunday, September 13.

NV Energy's Incident Management Team continues to closely monitor weather forecasts, fuel conditions, field observations and operational data. Any decision to implement a Public Safety Outage Management event is made only after careful analysis and consideration of wildfire risk and potential impacts to customers and communities. PSOM is a precautionary measure used to help prevent wildfires from starting when extreme weather and fire conditions create an elevated risk to communities.

However, when faced with the risk of a fast-moving wildfire, our responsibility is clear. No inconvenience is more important than protecting lives, homes, businesses and critical infrastructure. When conditions threaten the safety of the communities we serve, safety will always come first."

A PSOM WATCH means weather conditions may require NV Energy to proactively de-energize power lines and equipment to help reduce wildfire risk. The watch period includes the duration of the weather event and the time needed for crews to inspect infrastructure for damage, vegetation or debris before power can be safely restored.

Safety remains NV Energy's highest priority. While outages of any kind can be disruptive, PSOM operations are considered only when conditions indicate an elevated threat to life, property and communities. The decision-making process incorporates weather forecasts, vegetation conditions, field observations and coordination with local fire agencies and emergency management partners.

All potentially impacted customers will continue to receive updates through phone, text and email notifications.
