Acura Adds Google Gemini, a Helpful AI Assistant, to ADX, MDX and ZDX Models With Google built-in

July 16, 2026 - TORRANCE, Calif.
  • Google Gemini is a seamless upgrade to the current Google Assistant
  • Delivers more intelligent and conversational interactions to provide Acura clients a more personal and connected driving experience

Acura is adding Google Gemini, a helpful AI assistant, to Acura vehicles equipped with Google built-in, giving drivers a more conversational, hands-free voice experience across select ADX, MDX and ZDX models. A seamless upgrade to Google Assistant, Gemini can engage in more intelligent, conversational interactions by maintaining context across multiple exchanges while enabling drivers to keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel providing a more personal, connected driving experience.

"For our Acura clients, seamless connectivity and intelligent technology have become defining elements of the premium driving experience," said Mike Langel, assistant vice president of Acura National Sales. "Bringing Google Gemini into our vehicles is another step in our commitment to delivering intelligent capabilities that help Acura drivers stay connected, access information more easily and make the most of their time on the road."

Acura clients can communicate with Gemini* naturally when signed into their Google Account, without relying on exact commands or repeating information they have already provided. The AI assistant will improve automatically over time to recognize nuanced requests, seek clarification when needed, and respond to layered instructions, creating an experience that feels more like a genuine conversation than a traditional voice command system.

Previously, Acura drivers needed to use specific requests, such as "Hey Google, find the nearest restaurant for lunch." With Gemini, Acura drivers can make more nuanced requests, such as "Hey Google, I'm hungry and want to stop for lunch along my route, what are some options?" By understanding context and handling more conversational requests, Gemini helps create a more seamless and intuitive in-vehicle experience.

In addition, the integration of Gemini Live brings a new level of conversational assistance to the driving experience that goes well beyond the handling of everyday vehicle-related requests. Acura drivers can activate this new hands-free feature with a simple prompt such as, "Hey Google, let's talk," and engage in a natural free-flowing conversation. In this way, Gemini Live can assist with a wide range of tasks, from planning a weekend getaway and finding family-friendly activities to summarizing the latest news or helping brainstorm for an upcoming meeting, enabling Acura drivers to stay informed, organized and engaged while on the road.
