On December 12, the SCO Secretariat staff delivered a lecture to the students of Shanghai University of Political Science and Law on the topic "SCO: History, Current Status and Prospects. Functions and Role of the Secretariat".
This was a continuation of the long-standing tradition of friendly communication between the Secretariat and this reputable university, as well as the result of the agreement reached at the recent meeting of the Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev with the University's management.
During the lecture, the prerequisites for the creation of the SCO, the history of its development, the structure of the Organization, and the key principles of its activities were covered. Special attention was paid to the practical functions of the Secretariat as the permanent body of the SCO.
The event was organized by the China-SCO Center for International Legal Training.
The China-SCO International Legal Training Center was established at the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law in accordance with the initiative put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the meeting of the Council of Heads of SCO Member States on September 13, 2013, in Bishkek. The Center serves as a platform for training legal personnel for SCO Member States.
