To help prepare students and teachers for the upcoming America 250 Celebration, the Iowa Judicial Branch and The Iowa State Bar Association have created a one-stop resource to better understand the importance of the United States and Iowa Constitutions. The Constitution Day 2025 page on the Iowa Judicial Branch website presents a constitutional case argued before the Iowa Supreme Court, educational videos, and podcasts about the Iowa Constitution and the courts.
Constitution Day recognizes the ratification of the Constitution of the United States on September 17, 1787. In 1911, the State of Iowa was the first state to celebrate Constitution Day. In 2004, legislation established the Federal observance of Constitution Day. The Constitution of Iowa was adopted in convention March 3, 1857.
