Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Maldives He Fen Attends Handover Ceremony of Road Sweeper Donated by Yunnan Province to the Maldives

On December 24, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Ms. He Fen attended the handover ceremony of a road sweeper donated by Yunnan Province to the Laamu Fonadhoo Council. Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim, Minister of State for the Ministry of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works, the President of the Fonadhoo Council, and representatives from the Yunnan Commercial Representative Office in the Maldives were also present.

Ms. He Fen noted that the Laamu Link Road Project, unveiled during President Xi Jinping's historical visit to the Maldives in 2014, is a key project of China-Maldives cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of President Xi's visit to the Maldives, the two sides successfully held the Laamu-Xiamen Marathon 2024 last September, significantly enhancing the friendship between the two peoples. Yunnan Province's donation of the road sweeper to Laamu is yet another testament to China-Maldives friendship and will contribute to building a more livable environment for the Maldivian people and a more pleasant experience for tourists.

Mr. Ibrahim expressed gratitude to China for its significant contributions to improving the well-being of the Maldivian people over the years and looked forward to further strengthening practical cooperation with China in various fields, aiming to elevate Maldives-China relations to a new level.
