Russia - France denounces the dismissal of the appeal of the conviction of director Evgenia Berkovitch and playwright Svetlana Petrichuk (25 December 2024)

France expresses its profound indignation regarding the dismissal of the appeal of the conviction of director Evgenia Berkovitch and playwright Svetlana Petrichuk, who were sentenced to six years in a penal colony on July 8.

France will be following the situation of Ms. Berkovitch and Ms. Petrichuk with the utmost vigilance while they are under detention. We remind the Russian authorities of their obligations under international humanitarian law and we urge them to release all political prisoners immediately and unconditionally.
