AUGUSTA, GA (December 14, 2025) - With temperatures expected to drop into the low 20s tonight, the City of Augusta has activated warming shelters to ensure the safety and well-being of residents during the extreme cold.
Shelter Access Requirements
Individuals seeking overnight shelter must obtain a shelter clearance. Beginning at 5:00 PM, a deputy will be on-site at May Park to assist individuals and provide the necessary documentation. Shelter assistance is also available by phone at 706-821-1080, with Option 4 as the prompt.
Transportation to Overnight Warming Shelters
Augusta Transit does not operate on Sundays. Individuals seeking warming shelter locations should plan accordingly.
