PPFA to host press gaggle and press call following the hearing. RSVP here.

BOSTON - The fight to stop President Trump's unconstitutional "defunding" of Planned Parenthood continues in federal court today, as lawyers representing Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM), and Planned Parenthood Association of Utah (PPAU) will argue for a preliminary injunction to protect more than 1.1 million patients who rely on Medicaid to get care from Planned Parenthood health centers.

Following this morning's hearing, leaders from PPFA, PPLM, and PPAU will be available for a press gaggle outside the courthouse and a brief press call at 12:30 pm ET today. RSVP herefor the press call.

The hearing follows a temporary restraining order (TRO)against the law's provisions that block patients from using Medicaid at Planned Parenthood health centers. PPFA, PPLM, and PPAU will ask the court to extend the protections granted by the TRO for the duration of the case, allowing patients to get the care they need as the legal process continues.

Statement from Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO, Planned Parenthood Federation of America:

"With days left until the current emergency protection runs out, there's no time to wait - we are fighting for the 1.1 million patients who are in danger of losing access to high-quality, affordable reproductive health care. The danger is at our door. If this attempt to 'defund' Planned Parenthood goes back into effect, it would destroy access to essential health care services and put as many as 200 Planned Parenthood health centers at risk of closure. Everyone, no matter who they are, deserves health care, and we are fighting every day to make that possible."

Statement from Dominique Lee, president and CEO, Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts:

"We are in court today because the patients we serve deserve better. Over a million people across this country, including thousands in Massachusetts with MassHealth, rely on Planned Parenthood for care that is life-affirming, lifesaving, and too often unavailable elsewhere.

If this law is allowed to move forward, the result will be catastrophic: delayed diagnoses, untreated conditions, and fewer access points for people who already face systemic barriers. This is not about politics. It's about people. At Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts, we have a responsibility to protect and defend the health and dignity of every patient who walks through our doors. And we will meet this moment, as we always do, with urgency, clarity, and unwavering commitment."

Statement from Shireen Ghorbani, interim president, Planned Parenthood Association of Utah:

"Every person, no matter where they live, what kind of care they need, or how much money they have, should be able to get high-quality, affordable health care at a provider they know and trust. We are proud that for many patients with Medicaid, that trusted provider is Planned Parenthood. Without the essential health care we provide, Americans who rely on Medicaid won't be able to get the birth control, STI tests and treatments, and cancer screenings they depend on to stay healthy and plan their futures."
