Interested in being involved in your local government as an elected official but afraid you don't have the time? This may be the perfect position for you! East Brandywine Township is seeking a motivated individual to fill a vacancy on the Board of Auditors. This part-time position meets just once a year. The successful candidate will be appointed by the Board of Supervisors to fill one of three seats on the Board of Auditors. The appointed auditor will serve until the voters of East Brandywine Township select a replacement to fill the remainder of this term.
What is an Elected Auditor?
An Elected Auditor serves a six-year term and assists in reviewing the annual audited financial statements of the township and its boards. In small municipalities where the Elected Supervisors are also paid employees, the Elected Auditors establish the compensation of these employee Supervisors. However, in East Brandywine Township this is not the case, as none of the Supervisors are employees.
What are the responsibilities of an Elected Auditor in East Brandywine?
If the Elected Auditors for the township do not audit the books or pay the Supervisors, what do they do for the township? They meet just once a year in January and set the mileage reimbursement for Supervisors.
Requirements:
- Must be a registered voter of East Brandywine Township
- Must have resided continuously in the township for at least one year immediately prior to election
- May not be employed by the township or hold any other elective or appointive office in the township
If you meet the above criteria, you are qualified to run! Please contact Township Secretary, Lisa Taraschi, with your interest at [email protected]
We look forward to hearing from you!
