Permanent Council Receives Update from the Secretary General on Haiti and the Situation of Persons Deprived of Liberty in Venezuela

The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, May 6 at 10:00 EDT (14:00 GMT), in the Simón Bolívar Hall at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC., to consider, among other topics:

• Update by the Secretary General of the OAS, Albert R. Ramdin, on the activities of the General Secretariat regarding Haiti
• Update on the situation of persons deprived of liberty for political reasons in Venezuela
• Commemoration of World Portuguese Language Day
