Social Service Fund, Air Service Recruitment, Emergency Declaration Update All Head to Council

When the Salem City Council meets on Monday, February 9, councilors will consider establishing a $200,000 social service fund on a pilot basis.

The council meeting starts at 6 p.m.at Loucks Auditorium.

If approved, money for the pilot period could come from salary savings at the City Manager's Office and the Salem-Willamette Valley Regional Airport between now and July 1.

Proposed uses for the fund include:

  • Housing assistance
  • Access to healthcare
  • Reducing food insecurity
  • Legal aid

These categories reflect the needs identified by community service providers during discussions related to the December 1, 2025, Emergency Declaration concerning immigration enforcement.
