Leaders Celebrate Growth of Capital Markets in Texas
DALLAS, October 30, 2026 - U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Paul S. Atkins rang the Texas Stock Exchange closing bell today at a ceremony hosted by the Economic Club of Dallas. Attendees included CEOs and seniorleadership of major U.S. public companies as well as state and federal policymakers who gathered to celebrate the buildout of capital markets in Texas. "The economic momentum building in Texas is truly a hallmark of the power of First Principles. With a legislature that is working to cut the costs and complexities of being a public company while preserving materiality, alongside a newly created Business Court, Texas is harnessing the spirit of competition that has always made America great," said SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins. "Texas, in many respects, is an embodiment of what we are striving toward at the SEC: revitalizing our public markets so that American enterprise and the American people can flourish."
"The Texas Stock Exchange was formed with the mission to reverse the steep, 30-year decline in the number of public companies in our country, and to help set the conditions to clear the backlog of IPOs, globally," said TXSE Chairman and CEO James H Lee. "Our federal regulator, the State of Texas, and the Texas Stock Exchange have been working to reverse these trends in our public markets. Companies are responding - headquarters, registrations, and now primary listings are moving here to Texas."
"The Club is proud to serve as a convening forum for the leaders shaping the economy in North Texas, where the buildout of capital markets is quickly gaining momentum," said Economic Club of Dallas President Michael Levy, " There's no better way to celebrate that growth than by hosting today's Texas Stock Exchange closing bell."
