Watch: Carly Pearce Says Riley Green Agreed To Duet 'Within Five Minutes'

Carly Pearce said it only took five minutes for Riley Green to agree to join her on a duet.

Pearce released "If I Don't Leave I'm Gonna Stay," featuring Green, earlier this year. The smoldering storytelling collaboration appears on Pearce's soon-to-release fifth studio record, Honest Woman. The Grammy-winning country star hosted a listening party for the album on Tuesday (August 18) at Analog at Hutton Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. During the event, Pearce performed "If I Don't Leave I'm Gonna Stay," and shared the story behind the song. It was written by Devin Dawson, Seth Ennis, Jordan Minton and Jordan Reynolds.

One of the songwriters told Pearce, "'I think you need a duet with Riley Green,' and I was like, 'I agree.' I do. And I was like, 'well, do you think you could go write one for me?' And he sent me this song one day…and I was like, 'oh, my God, this is it.' And I ended up sending it to Riley, and I said, 'hey, I'm sure you're getting a lot of asks, but I really think you should listen to this song.' And within five minutes, he texted me back and he said 'I'm in.' I was like, 'wow, that was easy.' And then like an hour later, he sent me a voice text of him singing it. I was like 'OK, this is great.' But I've known Riley for a really long time, and I feel like he brought something so special with this song. Today it's just gonna be me, which lets fans down across America every night."

So far, Pearce has released "If I Don't Leave I'm Gonna Stay," "Dream Come True," "Church Girl," "She Don't," "You Can Have Him," "Happy For Myself," and "What If You Loved Me" with Molly Tuttle and Dan Tyminski from the upcoming album. Honest Woman, produced by Ben West, follows 204's hummingbird (which Pearce expanded into a deluxe edition in 2025).

"When I started making Honest Woman, I found myself rediscovering who I am and why I wanted to be a country music singer in the first place," Pearce previously said in a statement. "This album takes me back to the beginning of my story, where the sounds of classic country and bluegrass music shaped who I am. I'm so proud of this body of work, and I truly feel like it's my best yet."

Honest Woman will release on August 28.
