Sen. Cruz Demands Olympics Protect Women's Sports

February 18, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee Chairman Ted Cruz (R-Texas) sent letters to national sports organizations requesting confirmation that the groups are complying with President Trump's executive order and eligibility rules designed to keep men out of women's sports.

These policies make clear that women's sports are for women, barring biological males from competing in women's divisions. Sen. Cruz warned the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic National Governing Bodies (NGBs) that failure to comply could result in decertification by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) and Congress, barring NGBs and athletes from representing the United States in future international competitions.
