U.S. News & World Report has once again ranked the MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute as one of the best in nation for the care of patients recovering from complex conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury and traumatic spinal cord injury.

This year, MetroHealth ranked 45^th in the nation, which places it in the top 5% of the more than 1,000 hospitals reviewed by U.S. News.

In addition to providing general rehabilitation treatment, MetroHealth has specialized units for stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury and major trauma rehabilitation at its Old Brooklyn Medical Center. MetroHealth's robust rehabilitation program complements the System's standing as the region's most experienced Level 1 Adult Trauma Center, ensuring patients have access to comprehensive care across their entire healthcare journey.

The Rehabilitation Institute's world-class caregivers are also at the forefront of groundbreaking medical research. That means patients have access to the latest treatments, technology and innovations during their recovery.

Earlier this year, for example, the Department of PM&R at MetroHealth and Case Western Reserve University ranked No. 1 in the nation in National Institutes of Health funding among PM&R departments at U.S. medical schools. And last year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services named MetroHealth as one of only 15 Rehabilitation Innovation Centers in the country. The designation recognizes rehabilitation facilities that are leaders in medical research and treatment of complex cases.

The MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute recently earned another three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities or CARF. This most recent stamp of approval - valid through 2027 - is an extension of the accreditation the Institute has had since first pursuing CARF more than 20 years ago. With this accreditation, patients can be assured they are receiving the highest level of care from MetroHealth's physicians, therapists and nurses.

When the MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute was established in 1953, it was one of only six hospitals in the nation dedicated solely to rehabilitation.
