The President will attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York

President Gitanas Nausėda will visit New York on September 22-25 to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

On September 23, the Lithuanian President will address world leaders at the General Assembly for the seventh time. The President's speech will focus on global conflicts, the need for United Nations reform, and accountability for Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

During his visit, the President will also speak at the Fifth Summit of the International Crimea Platform and at the Concordia Annual Summit, where he will join the presidential panel "Strengthening European Energy Independence and Security." As is tradition, a meeting of the presidents of Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and Poland will be held, along with a meeting of the Baltic leaders with UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

The President will also attend the annual reception for heads of state hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as bilateral meetings and interviews with Lithuanian and international media. Special attention during the visit will be devoted to economic diplomacy and defense industry cooperation. The President will open the Lithuanian-U.S. business forum "Lithuania: Hotspot for Defense Investments and Partnerships."

The President will be accompanied by First Lady Diana Nausėdienė. In New York, the First Lady will participate in a joint Lithuanian-Ukrainian event at United Nations Headquarters, "Learning to Stay Strong: Education as Ukraine's Backbone of Resilience"; the event "80 Years of the UN: The Role of First Ladies and Gentlemen in Promoting Peace and Prosperity"; and the "High-Level Meeting on Advancing Peace in Ukraine through the Return of Ukrainian Children," organized by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

The First Lady will also attend the reception "Fostering the Future Together," hosted by U.S. First Lady Melania Trump on the occasion of the 80th UN General Assembly, and she will visit the Maironis Lithuanian School.

Together, the President and the First Lady will meet with the Lithuanian community in New York and visit the headquarters of the Lithuanian Alliance of America.
