City Council Election Filing Period Begins July 6

Hillsboro residents interested in serving the community as a member of the City Council can file to become a candidate starting on Monday, July 6. The candidate filing period will continue through Friday, August 21, at 5 pm.

Three City Council seats will be up for election on November 3, 2026:

• Ward 1, Position A: Councilor Cristian Salgado was appointed in 2025 and is eligible to seek a four-year term on the Council.

• Ward 2, Position B: Councilor Kipperlyn Sinclair was elected in 2022 and is eligible to seek another four-year term on the Council.

• Ward 3, Position B: Councilor Olivia Alcaire was appointed in 2017, elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2022. She is term-limited and cannot seek re-election, creating a vacancy.

All City Council positions are nonpartisan. Elected terms are for four years, and no person may serve more than two consecutive terms. Candidates must be registered to vote in Oregon and must reside in Hillsboro for at least one year immediately preceding the election.
