JNC recommends candidates for Superior Courts of the Cobb and Griffin Judicial Circuits

The Judicial Nominating Commission has submitted recommendations to fill vacancies within the Superior Courts of the Cobb and Griffin Judicial Circuits. The vacancy in the Superior Court of the Cobb Judicial Circuit was created by the resignation of the Honorable A. Gregory Poole. The vacancy in the Superior Court of the Griffin Judicial Circuit was created by the resignation of the Honorable W. Fletcher Sams.

Governor Kemp will fill the vacancies from among the lists. The Governor's Office will contact candidates to schedule interviews.

The following names were submitted to Governor Kemp:

Cobb Judicial Circuit

  • Tyler J. Browning - managing partner, Browning, Browning & Gilkinson, LLC
  • Mellori E. Lumpkin-Dawson - Judge, Magistrate Court of Cobb County
  • Brendan F. Murphy - Chief Magistrate Judge, Magistrate Court of Cobb County

Griffin Judicial Circuit

  • William F. Carter, III - Assistant Solicitor-General, Fayette County Solicitor-General's Office
  • Matthew M. McCord - owner, McCord Law, P.C.; Chief Judge, Municipal Courts of Stockbridge and Hampton
