Notice of Availability for Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI)

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) announces the availability of the Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the U.S. Route 412 environmental study in Dunklin County. The environmental study examined options for increasing capacity, as well as the impact of those options, for the 20-mile section of U.S. 412 extending from Route AC near the Arkansas border to just east of Route Y near Kennett, Missouri. As a main east-west corridor in Missouri's Bootheel, U.S. 412 carries more than 6,000 vehicles a day. Currently, the existing four-lane upgrades end near Cardwell, Missouri, and U.S. 412 returns to a two-lane road.

A four-lane undivided highway with a flush median is the preferred alternative. The preferred alternative includes an additional lane for turning traffic at intersections (5-lane with two-way left turn lane at intersections). Funding has not been secured for construction at this time.
