Congressman Begich Attends White House Roundtable on Historic Rural Health Investment

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Jan. 16, 2026 -Today, Congressman Nick Begich attended "The Great, Historic Investment in Rural Health Roundtable" at the White House, where President Donald J. Trump highlighted the Administration's commitment to delivering real, measurable improvements in rural health care across America.

Following the roundtable, Congressman Begich issued the following statement:

"Today's roundtable at the White House highlighted just how historic the rural healthcare transformation fund framework created under the One Big Beautiful Bill truly is," said Congressman Begich. "This fund is a sustainable, pragmatic answer to one of the hardest challenges in American health care: delivering quality care in rural and remote communities. Instead of short-term subsidies or temporary fixes, this approach invests in systems, workforce, and innovation that actually improve outcomes. This investment represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build a stronger, more sustainable rural health care system."

The roundtable was headlined by President Trump, Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz, and Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, alongside medical professionals and health care leaders from across the rural health care space.

The discussion focused on the historic framework created under the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, which established the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP).
