The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for this weekend. Dangerous heat and humidity will impact the area this weekend into early next week (temperatures look pleasant for tonight's Pride Fest in Irwin Park, however!). High temperatures Saturday-Monday will be in the 90s with high humidity, which will pull the heat index above 100F. Ensure that you're staying cool and hydrated! Drink plenty of water and check on your neighbors; keep pets indoors.
Free cool indoor locations nearby include the Flossmoor Public Library (open Saturday & Monday 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday 1-5 p.m.) and the Homewood Public Library (open Saturday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. & Monday 9 a.m.-9 p.m.). The Flossmoor Police Department lobby is open 24/7. Cook County also offers a full list of cooling centers, including those in neighboring Hazel Crest, Tinley Park, Oak Forest & Markham at its website:
