Defendant Indicted for the Murder of His Girlfriend

Tuesday, December 23, 2025

Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that Gary G. Green, Jr., 37, of Buffalo, was arraigned this morning before State Supreme Court Justice Betty Calvo-Torres on an indictment charging him with the following offenses:

  • One count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class A-I felony)
  • One count of Robbery in the First Degree (Class B violent felony)
  • One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class C violent felony)
  • One count of Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree (Class A misdemeanor)

It is alleged that on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Cheektowaga Police responded to Walden Avenue between Hedwig Avenue and Alexander Avenue for the report of a person hit by a vehicle. The victim, 32-year-old Alexis Navaroli, was found dead in the road. The suspect vehicle was located nearby. The defendant is accused of intentionally causing the death of his girlfriend by shooting her with an illegal handgun after hitting the victim with his vehicle.

It is further alleged that immediately after the homicide, the defendant displayed a handgun and forcibly stole a vehicle from a second victim who was driving by the scene of the crime. Buffalo Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop after they allegedly observed the defendant operating the stolen vehicle in the area of Genesee Street and Rawlins Avenue. The defendant is accused of attempting to flee police by recklessly driving at a high rate of speed. He was arrested in the area of Jefferson Avenue and Best Street after striking a police patrol vehicle. A handgun was recovered and placed into evidence.

Green is scheduled to return on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. for a pre-trial conference. He remains held without bail.

If convicted of the highest charge, Green faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

DA Keane commends the Cheektowaga Police Department and Buffalo Police Department for their work in this investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney John P. Gerken, Jr. of the Homicide Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
