Anytime Gyms in Spain

TRILUX is lighting the new Anytime Fitness gyms in Spain with a smart solution that enhances the user experience and maximises energy efficiency.

Lighting plays an increasingly strategic role in the design of sports facilities. Beyond ensuring adequate light levels, it helps to create more engaging experiences, promote users' wellbeing, optimise energy consumption and reinforce brand identity. With this vision in mind, TRILUX has been involved in the lighting design for three new Anytime Fitness openings in Spain, including Anytime Fitness Imperial, its first corporate club in Madrid.

Founded in the United States in 2002, Anytime Fitness has established itself as the world's largest chain of 24-hour gyms, with over 6,000 clubs across more than 40 countries and over 6 million members. Its business model is based on offering members maximum flexibility, allowing them to train at any time of day, seven days a week, in modern, accessible and high-tech facilities. In Spain, the company is maintaining a solid pace of growth, steadily expanding its presence through new openings and establishing itself as one of the leading names in the fitness sector.

Indeed, the concept of a 24-hour gym makes lighting an essential element in ensuring a balance between comfort, energy efficiency and the user experience. Unlike a conventional sports facility, occupancy levels vary significantly depending on the time of day, so having a system capable of adjusting the lighting in real time is key to optimising the building's operation.

To meet these needs, TRILUX has implemented a comprehensive smart lighting solution at the Anytime Fitness Imperial centre, based on its LiveLink WiFi management system. Thanks to the incorporation of presence and natural light sensors, each space automatically adjusts its lighting levels according to occupancy and the amount of natural light available. When an area is unoccupied, the system reduces the light level to as low as 10 per cent, minimising energy consumption without compromising the building's safety.

In addition to automatic operation, gym staff have access to control buttons that allow them to adjust certain lighting settings immediately to meet specific needs or accommodate particular activities, providing a high degree of flexibility in the day-to-day management of the facility.

One of the main objectives of the project has been to respect Anytime Fitness's visual identity, whilst incorporating visual comfort criteria that promote an enjoyable training experience. To this end, linear luminaires with a glare rating of UGR<19 and spotlights fitted with anti-glare systems have been used, ensuring comfortable lighting.

Each area of the gym has been fitted with specific lighting designed for its intended use.

The functional area, the very heart of the facility, incorporates one of the most distinctive elements of Anytime Fitness's corporate identity: large rectangular lighting structures measuring 3 x 2 metres, which have been standardised to facilitate their installation across the chain's various gyms. These RGB structures allow for the creation of various dynamic scenes and can be integrated using DALI or Casambi protocols, adapting to the control system chosen at each club . The lighting is complemented by TRILUX B.Veo RGB spotlights, also controlled via Casambi, which add dynamism and enhance the experiential nature of the space.

In the recovery area, the lighting creates a much more relaxed atmosphere, with the option to adjust the brightness to suit the various activities designed to promote rest and muscle recovery.

The cardio area combines the E-Line continuous lighting system in a black finish, which provides even and comfortable lighting over the work surface, with B.Veo spotlights designed to highlight the graphics and wall decals, adding depth and reinforcing the space's visual identity.

The toilet, changing room and shower areas are fitted with Sonnos pendant lights and Amatris-light fittings, providing uniform, comfortable and appropriate lighting for spaces where the user's well-being is also a priority.

Im Gegensatz zu diesen Bereichen wurden bestimmte Funktionsbereiche mit einer dramatischeren und kontrastreicheren Beleuchtung gestaltet, wodurch eine intensivere Atmosphäre entsteht, die das Training begleitet und dazu beiträgt, ein einzigartiges Erlebnis zu schaffen.

Durch die Kombination aus Design, Technologie und intelligenten Managementsystemen trägt TRILUX dazu bei, Räume zu schaffen, die sich an die Bedürfnisse von Nutzern und Betreibern anpassen lassen und dabei die Energieeffizienz im Vergleich zu einer ungesteuerten Anlage, den Sehkomfort und das gesamte Trainingserlebnis verbessern.
