Markus J. Beyrer receives Austrian Grand Decoration of Honour

BusinessEurope Director General Markus J. Beyrer has received the Grand Decoration of Honour in Silver for Services to the Republic of Austria, presented by Federal Minister for Economy, Energy and Tourism Dr Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer. The Grand Decoration of Honour in Silver is one of the country's high-ranking state decorations, it is awarded in recognition of outstanding services to the Republic.

For Markus J. Beyrer, the award recognises a career dedicated to strengthening Austrian and European industry and promoting a competitive and prosperous European economy. Markus has served as Director General of BusinessEurope since 2013, representing the interests of European companies and employers at EU level. Before moving to Brussels, he held several senior positions in Austria, including Chief Economic Adviser to Federal Chancellor Wolfgang Schüssel and Director General of the Federation of Austrian Industries (IV). In the 1990s, Markus worked on Austria's accession to the European Union and its integration into the Single Market, including at Austria's Permanent Representation to the EU and at the European Commission.
