FTAI Aviation (FTAI) stock climbed 17.3% on Thursday, October 29, 2026, even as the S&P 500 fell 0.3%. The company released third-quarter results the same day, reporting earnings per share that topped analyst estimates while revenue missed the mark. So what else did FTAI Aviation announce alongside its quarterly results?

FTAI Aviation Added A Big Buyback To Its Results

FTAI Aviation paired its quarterly figures with a $500 million accelerated share repurchase and doubled its total buyback authorization to $1.0 billion. Management said it will complete the repurchase on a short schedule by the end of 2026. The $500 million program accounts for about 2.5% of the company's $20.1 billion market value at Thursday's close. One news report that day tied the stock gain to strong earnings and the big buyback management promised.

Investors watch closely what a company does with its cash. Look at Tesla, which holds $45.4 billion in cash, yet has never made a free FSD ride offer for families that the Big Story estimates would cost about $340 million. Read Trefis Big Story: Musk's Massive Marketing Miss Cost $10 Trillion.

The company delivered a mixed quarter. Earnings per share on the basis analysts compare with reached $1.43, beating the $1.41 estimate; reported earnings came to $1.45 per share. Revenue came in at $977.7 million, falling short of the $1,002.6 million analysts expected.

Management calls adjusted EBITDA, a profit measure before interest, taxes and depreciation, its key metric. For the third quarter, adjusted EBITDA was $348.3 million, up 15% from the second quarter. The company maintained its adjusted EBITDA guidance for 2026 and 2027, leaving the 2027 target at $2.3 billion. The 2026 outlook includes $1.05 billion of adjusted EBITDA from the Aerospace Products segment and $475 million from the Aviation Leasing segment. In its power business, FTAI Aviation said it now has over 100 Mod-1 units under contract for 2027 and 2028. Each Mod-1 is a modular power unit.
