Arkansas Democrats Demand Action from Federal Delegation Following Second Murder of an American Citizen by Federal Agents

LITTLE ROCK- Arkansas Democrats are responding to the shooting of a second American citizen by ICE agents.

Arkansas Democrats Chair Col. Marcus Jones (Ret.) said:

"Following the tragic and unnecessary killing of Alex Pretti, Arkansas Democrats are calling on our Congressional Delegation to stand up and demand accountability for ICE's actions in Minnesota.

Immigrants aren't terrorizing Minnesota neighborhoods, masked federal agents are. We shouldn't live in fear of our federal government, but we're watching, in real time, as untrained ICE agents endanger U.S. citizens. Now, two Americans are dead, a mother of three, Renee Good, and an ICU nurse at a VA hospital, Alex Pretti. Neither was killed by an immigrant. Both were murdered by federal agents.

During my time in the Army, my family and I lived South of the Rio Grande in El Paso, Texas. The safety and security of our borders matter to me like they do for so many Arkansans, because I've seen it first-hand. But, we must ask, how is terrorizing Minneapolis or killing U.S. citizens in Minnesota making our country safer?

Like most Arkansans, I'm a gun owner and believe in the responsible exercise of our Second Amendment rights, which is exactly what Alex Pretti was doing. Gun rights advocates, including the National Rifle Association, as well as Sens. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) are demanding a full investigation. The Libertarian Party is calling to abolish ICE. Meanwhile, we hear nothing but silence from Sens. Boozman and Cotton, Reps. Womack, Hill, Crawford, and Westerman, and Gov. Sanders. When will Arkansas Republicans demand accountability for the murder of American citizens? Will they stand up for a nurse at the VA hospital or a mother of three?

Everyone can see that the Trump administration is abusing its power against people simply exercising their constitutionally protected First and Second Amendment rights. This violence has to stop."

During the 2025 Legislative Session, Arkansas Republicans passed multiple bills to make it easier for ICE to occupy Arkansas communities and required struggling local law enforcement agencies to act as immigration enforcement agents without giving more resources to local departments.
