Motor Vehicle Theft, Reckless Homicide

(PEORIA, IL) Monday, June 9, 2025, at approximately 3:44 p.m., Peoria Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of W. Lincoln on a report of a vehicle that was just stolen from a local business (Billie Jo's Towing).

When police arrived, they learned that two male suspects entered the vehicle and were fleeing the lot when two employees attempted to close the gate. The suspects drove through the gate at a high rate of speed, forcing it open and striking two employees in the process.

One of the employees sustained minor injuries while the second employee suffered life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, where he died a short time later.

The victim's identity and cause of death will be released by the Peoria County Coroner.

During the course of the investigation, officers located the stolen vehicle abandoned in the 800 block of S. Warren Street. The suspects were not located.

This incident is under investigation. There is currently no suspect information.
