Meet Hillsboro's School Resource Officers

Why are School Resource Officers (SROs) on campuses in the Hillsboro School District?

Dedicated officers from the City of Hillsboro Police Department help keep our schools safe and supportive for students, parents, teachers, and staff.

More than just security - this is about community, connection, and care.

Detective Dylan Hettrich

School Assignments: Century HS, Imlay ES, Ladd Acres ES, Rosedale ES

Fun Fact: He loves watching cooking shows and honing his culinary skills.

"I think the most meaningful part of this job is we get to do a lot of non-traditional police work. We get to be mentors, we get to be teachers, we get to be coaches, we get to work with our administrators, we get to work with our families. A big part of my role is educating our students and that can be on a variety of topics and a variety of level of kids from kindergarteners all the way up to our seniors in high school."

Detective Edgar Garcia-Garfias

Detective Tracy Hinkelman

School Assignments: Glencoe HS, Hillsboro Online Academy (9th through 12th grades) Oak Street, McKinney ES

Fun Fact: She once worked as a wildland firefighter!

"I'd like parents to know that our number one job in the schools is to keep kids safe and to make sure their kids have equal opportunity to spend that time in the classroom to get the education that they all need."

Detective Robbie Carrigan

School Assignments: Evergreen MS, Jackson ES, Mooberry ES, Patterson ES

Fun Fact: He played and coached Rugby, and he really enjoys board and card games.

"I wanted to become an SRO because I was a high school rugby coach and being able to be there for the kids and mentoring the kids is just a feeling you can't replace."
