New Online Payment Portal for Utility Customers

The City of Concord is launching a new online payment portal that will give customers more convenient ways to pay and manage their utility account. The new system goes live on January 28, 2025, and is part of the City's ongoing efforts to enhance customer service and user experiences.

The City of Concord currently provides utility services to nearly 60,000 customers. These services include electric, water, wastewater, stormwater, garbage, recycling, yard and bulky waste collection.

The new online portal gives customers more self-service options to be able to quickly and conveniently pay their bill, set payment reminders, update their account information, view their water and electric usage, and transfer their service when they move. This offers customers more convenience and will save them time. Currently, customers must call Customer Care to make even small account changes like updating their email or mailing address.

Here is what existing customers need to know before the January 28 transition to the new online payment portal:

  • Utility account numbers and payment due dates are not changing.
  • Customers who want to view, pay, or manage their monthly bill online must sign up and create an account through the new customer portal.
  • Customers currently enrolled in autopay, with their monthly payment automatically drafted from their bank account, will need to re-enroll.
  • Customers enrolled in paperless billing will continue to receive e-bills.
  • Customers who receive paper bills in the mail and choose to mail a check payment each month can continue to do so.
  • Customers who prefer to pay with cash can continue to do so using one of the bill pay kiosks located at City Hall.

New customers will also use the new online portal to apply for water and electric services. Everything a customer needs from starting a service, paying and managing their utility bill, transferring or stopping service, will now be available through one streamlined, convenient customer portal.

For more information, customers can visit concordnc.gov/newbillpay. Current customers will also receive information about the new payment portal in their January bill.
