HARRISBURG - Sen. Elder Vogel, Jr. (R-47) will be holding a food drive throughout September, which is Hunger Action Month in Pennsylvania and across the nation.
Vogel's district offices will be accepting unexpired, non-perishable food items Sept. 1 - 30. At end of the month, food items will be donated to a local food bank. The district offices are located at 488 Adams St. in Rochester, Beaver County and 8001 Rowan Road, Suite 205, in Cranberry Township, Butler County.
"Every year, I'm heartened by the response of residents across the 47th Senate District who donate food for neighbors in need," said Vogel, who co-chairs the Legislative Hunger Caucus. "Many families are just a paycheck away from a crisis in trying to make ends meet, and keeping food banks stocked with nutritious goods is critical to helping folks get through the tough times."
The Hunger Caucus established the Capitol Hunger Garden, located on the grounds of the State Capitol, which serves as a valuable teaching tool and a volunteer-driven source of fresh produce for donation.
