Draft 2026 Extreme Heat Action Plan Open for Public Comment

Public comment for the 2026 update to California's Extreme Heat Action Plan (EHAP), "Protecting Californians from Extreme Heat: A State Action Plan to Build Community Resilience," is open as of Wednesday, Feb. 25, and will close on Wednesday, April 8, at 5 p.m.

To maximize public engagement, collect feedback, and answer questions related to the draft, the Governor's Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (LCI) and the California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA) will be hosting virtual and in-person workshops as well as Tribal engagement throughout the public comment period.

The plan is organized around four action tracks that reflect key areas of focus:

  1. Build Public Awareness and Notification
  2. Strengthen Community Services and Response
  3. Increase Resilience of our Built Environment
  4. Utilize Nature-Based Solutions

Workshops will feature 90 minutes of formal programming by the state on EHAP. They will provide an overview of the EHAP process and content, serve as an opportunity to give general and track-specific feedback, and highlight heat resources offered by the state.
