Tarleton State Baseball ends Power Four play with loss to Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION - Tarleton State Baseball (15-23) fell to the Texas A&M Aggies (21-15) during their midweek matchup at Blue Bell Park, 11-3.

Texas A&M took control of the lead with a four-run second inning. Jamal George hit a sacrifice fly that drove in Bear Harrison, giving the Aggies their first run of the ballgame. This was followed by a two-RBI single from Terrence Kiel II that extended the lead to three runs. The scoring spurt was capped off by a two-out RBI single from Jace LaViolette, making the game 4-0 heading into the third stanza.

Heinrich eventually scored thanks to a sacrifice fly from that made the game 4-2.

After both sqauds went scoreless in the fifth, the Aggies tacked on two runs in the sixth frame that contained a lead-off triple from Caden Sorrell and an RBI single from George. With A&M's lead back to four runs, Heinrich responded with a solo home run to left field, giving life to the Texans. Since hitting his first collegiate home run last Saturday, the freshman now has three straight games with a home run.

Sorrell achieved his second straight hit to score Laviolette in the bottom of the sixth inning, making the game 7-3. Tarleton State couldn't respond in the seventh despite a single from .

In the bottom of the seventh stanza, Texas A&M had four runs off four hits and three walks. The scoring spurt was highlighted by a three-run shot from LaViolette that marked his 11th home run of the season. Following LaViolette's home run, Wyatt Henseler hit a double down the left field line to keep the pressure on the Texans. The Aggies then drew three straight walks, extending their lead to eight runs.

The Purple and White remained scoreless, eventually dropping their midweek matchup 11-3. Tarleton State Baseball will look to respond when they return to WAC play against Utah Valley on Thursday in Orem, Utah.
