As the spring 2025 semester begins, LMU welcomes new and returning students to our campuses while recognizing the devastating impact of the wildfires on many of our LMU Lions and the greater Los Angeles region.
Echoing the sentiments of President Snyder in his message this afternoon, the university is guided by the spirit of solidarity, calling each member of the LMU community to stand for and with others, supporting recovery efforts wherever possible. These efforts embrace the spirit of cura personalis, with numerous students, staff, and faculty mobilizing to support those affected.
All members of the LMU community are invited to attend the "Healing Prayer for the City of Angels" vigil, hosted by Campus Ministry, on Wednesday at 5 p.m. on the steps of Sacred Heart Chapel. No RSVP is necessary; this will be a time for the community to gather in prayer, grieve together, and uplift one another as we begin the path forward toward healing and recovery.
Campus emergency funds that directly support the LMU community can be found here. The Pam Rector Center for Service and Action also shares a list of various ways Lions can aid local and regional relief efforts.
Numerous resources are available to students, staff, and faculty who have been intimately affected by the devastating wildfires. Students should contact communityofcare@lmu.edu (studentaffairs@lls.edu for LMU Loyola Law School). Case managers will provide personalized guidance and connect those impacted with additional support and resources for the days and weeks ahead.
Faculty and staff who have been affected by the fires or are experiencing other extenuating circumstances that require special accommodations should contact hr@lmu.edu and their supervisors. A list of disaster recovery resources for faculty and staff can be found on the California Wildfires FAQ page.
