The Texas Southern University School of Communication hosted a launch event for the new Texas Southern Journal of Media Innovation & Creative Communication.

Texas Southern Journal of Media Innovation & Creative Communication serves as the flagship open access journals that students can publish their articles. Editor-in-Chief and Interim Dean, Dr. Christian Ulasi, worked alongside Dr. Anthony Ogbo on completing this imitative, with the first big article being released in Spring 2025.

"Here at Texas Southern University (TSU) here within SOC, not only do they have an outstanding faculty, staff and students, but now those same students have an opportunity really to publish their research in a journal here at Texas Southern University." says Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Carl Goodman.

The Research Foundation initiative established by the TSJMICC is multifaceted, consisting of the Student Volunteer Research Program and Political Polling. The Student Volunteer Research Program offers students a valuable educational experience through their service.

"We're taking steps forward not only in the academic and the educational room, but in the research room," says TSU School of Communication graduate student, Koran Cooper. "We're able to actually provide an opportunity. So that when people graduate from TSU, they're actually able to come back and give back other than in ways of money, but through education and research and spearheading innovative ideas."

The Political Polling sector collaborates with policymakers, stakeholders, and other researchers to address complex issues such as climate change, economic inequality, healthcare access, and more. This helps fuel students with their research.

The TSJMICC's website launched today featuring important information, upcoming events, and projects. The website is: https://texjournal.com/.
