Oct 01, 2024 Living Room Session with Denise Minns-Harris

Oct. 1, 2024 - Cal State Channel Islands is excited to present "The Living Room Sessions," which brings influential guests to discuss the wonderful complexity of having a life in dance.

Join us on Friday, Oct. 4 to listen to a fascinating conversation with Denise Minns-Harris. In co-sponsorship with CSUCI Black Studies, CSUCI Ethnic Studies Council, & CI Dance Studies, Denise Minns-Harris will sit down in our "living room" in Malibu Hall 120 to talk not only about the legacy of her father, trailblazing jazz dancer Al Minns, but about her own unique journey in the arts and activism as well.

At 14, Denise became an active youth member of the Black Panther party inspiring her work as a lifelong grassroots activist and highly sought after professional fundraiser for various national and local political, educational, and progressive non-profit and advocacy organizations. Denise also served as one of the head administrators of the Debbie Allen Dance Academy for its first 15 years and, with Debbie, raised it into an internationally renowned Dance institution for young people.

This special discussion will be moderated by E. Nicole Vines, Ph.D., of CSUCI on Oct. 4 1:30 p.m.

Please RSVP here if you plan to attend.
