Take Action: Allow Public Input on Chicago South Shore Ordinance

A 2023 proposal has unexpectedly resurfaced that would expand broad tenant rights in South Shore. The original version included a rental registry and tenant right of first refusal-policies that have caused significant delays and complications in the 606 pilot area for both buyers and sellers.

Now, the Housing Committee is set to vote this Wednesday to expand these policies to a new area of the city. This move is risky and could lead to similar disruptions citywide.

Take Action:
Tell Housing Committee members to SLOW DOWN. The current version of the proposal has not been shared with REALTORS® or other key stakeholders. Advancing policy without input from those most affected sets a dangerous precedent
